We love ICT

We love using ICT to help us with our learning. We used Kidpix to create a picture about the Oaklands CARE values.

Hello and Goodbye

Today we welcomed a new girl to our class - Ataahua Jacobs-Tupuhi. We are very happy to have Ataahua in Room 19. Sadly on Friday we farewell Gordon Munro who is moving to New Brighton. We will miss his bright cheerful presence and his helpfulness but we hope that he will be very happy at his new school.

Week 1

Well we have had a great week working on our learning plan. We have talked about CARE,Waitangi Day, Keto the kea, designing a portrait, ensuring our classroom is  a happy place where we can all concentrate on our learning.

The Room 19 students have enjoyed getting to know each other and working in groups with students who may not have been in the same class as us last year.

We are  a really happy, friendly, co-operative group of children and our teacher thinks we are wonderful!

Portraits

As part of our learning plan we are looking at how to design portraits. We have studied Picasso's portraits. Here is the link.

KETO THE KEA

We are enjoying learning about our class mascot, Keto the kea.  We have talked about how keas are smart, good thinkers, persistent and clever. We watched a great video clip about how keas could open a bin to get some food and also get some butter out of a little container. Here is the link about the smartest kea -
