Making Changes

Materials can be grouped according to
their observable properties e.g.
texture, colour, melting point and/or solubility can be used to group
materials.
Properties of familiar materials may be
changed by cooling or heating-e.g. melting or freezing. e.g. water is usually liquid but is solid when frozen. Changes
during cooking

We watched some mentos mints being out in a bottle of coke and what a surprise we got. We found out that it is the uneven ( not smooth) surface of the mentos lolly that makes the coke bubble up everywhere!
We made popcorn and we found out that it is the moisture inside the kernel that makes it pop!
We did an experiment putting a jelly baby in different mixtures - water, water & vinegar, water and baking soda. We watched each container for lots of days. It was fascinating!
